The Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) was a military force essentially created for the war with the Separatists 10 years before the Jedi knew of their existence. Following the Battle of Geonosis, many other battles took place across the galaxy. The Elite Corps fought in the Second Battle of Geonosis, Battle of Kashyyyk and the transportation of Nute Gunray to Corruscant (which was a failure). Clone Commander 1004 was a well decorated veteran in the GAR. CC-1004 was the commanding clone in the 41st Elite Corps Battalion. He fought alongside some of the most famous Jedi Generals during the Clone Wars including Anakin Skywalker. Continue reading “Black Series: Clone Commander Gree”

What an adventure it was to obtain this figure!

I was lucky enough to score my figure at the Star Wars midnight event at Toys”R”Us for Rogue Friday. That didn’t stop me for staying on the hunt for the next month to help out my friends and fellow collections that were struggling to find this exclusive figure at their local Toys”R”Us. I was able to determine that most stores only received one case for Rogue Friday – containing six action figures packed in it. It took upwards of a month for stores to restock.

The figure is now available online and my recent stop to a store near me was fully stocked. This is a good example of patience being rewarded. I know a lot of collectors were losing their minds at the distribution issues Hasbro had in the first month. Fret not, if you haven’t scored your figure yet – there is still time. It is another reminder that you can also wait out the scalpers on eBay and Amazon and not have to pay more than retail for a figure that should be widely available in time.

The figure itself is stunning. The weathering effect and carbon scoring on the armor and helmet is phenomenal. This is a refreshing new take on a old design of the standard Imperial Stormtrooper we know and love. I did notice that this isn’t exactly the armor paint that we see from one of the Rogue One trailers. That Hovertank pilot had a rank painted on his upper torso and shoulder. It makes me wonder if we’ll get another version of this next year.

The box text gives us some more information on this new specialist:

Imperial combat drivers operate the Empire’s arsenal of armored repulsor vehicles. Combat drivers are lightly armored, relying instead on the thick skin of their vehicles to protect them in battle.

The Rogue One first wave of 6-inch Black Series Figures have come and gone from Force (or Rogue) Friday. And now we eagerly await new product on the retail shelves to satisfy our excitement for another Star Wars movie released this year.

Black Series: First Order Snowtrooper Officer (The Force Awakens)

Release Date: 2015
MSRP: $19.99
Current Price: eBay | Amazon

I finally was able to find this Toys”R”Us exclusive 6-inch Black Series figure one week before the Rogue Friday festivities kicked off. It was actually the lone Black Series left on the pegs at my local store as they were clearing room for the new incoming inventory. I had not sought out this figure specifically before stumbling across this one but I couldn’t pass it up either. It was the first time I had seen one at any of the three stores in New Hampshire since launching this site in June.

I previously reviewed the First Order Snowtrooper and had been pleasantly surprised with that figure. This is essentially the same figure with the exception of the red shoulder pauldron. It is a nice addition to an already solid figure. The only hindrance when posing the figure is that it is tough for the figure to shoulder his blaster with the pauldron in the way. I highly recommend adding this figure to your collection if you have not already.

Upcoming 6-Inch Star Wars Black Series Figure Checklist – Fall 2016

Updated 9/26/2016

I’ve taken some time to compile a listing (and probably not complete) of all the 6-Inch Black Series we can expect to be released by Hasbro beginning with Force Friday in September through the Holiday Season. We don’t know the order of how these will be released or what the numbering sequences will be, but based on how we’ve seen the prototypes for these action figures released so far this year – this should be a reasonable expectation of what we can expect. The wild cards are the unseen Rogue One: A Star Wars Story figures that are rumored to be released on Force Friday. For now, we have Jyn Erso confirmed without a doubt.

If you are like me, you are already plotting who you will be on the lookout for in retail stores and online retailers. It is hard to tell from this juncture who the characters that will be in the highest demand will be since there is a good balance of figures that fans have clamored for years. My guess for a top three based on popularity alone are: Darth Revan, Sabine Wren and Hera Syndulla. I doubt any of the three reach the levels of demand that Ahsoka Tano still carries – but they will be in demand nonetheless.

On to the checklist:

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Wave 1 (September 30, 2016)

  • Sergeant Jyn Erso (Jedha)
  • Captain Cassian Andor (Eadu)
  • K-2SO
  • Imperial Death Trooper
  • Kylo Ren (Unmasked)
  • Sergeant Jyn Erso (Eadu) – Kmart Exclusive
  • Imperial Hovertank Pilot – Toys”R”Us Exclusive

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Wave 2 (October 2016)

  • Director Krennic
  • Scarif Stormtrooper Squad Leader
  • C-3PO (The Force Awakens)

Upcoming Waves (Dates Unknown)
